Ryugaeshi Falls

I spent the past Saturday in Karuizawa, about one hour north of Tokyo on the Nagano Shinkansen. Your useless trivia of the day is that Karuizawa has hosted both summer Olympic events (equestrian events for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics) and winter Olympic events (curling at the 1998 Nagano Olympics). Otherwise, Karuizawa is a popular getaway from the bustle of Tokyo, and has been fashionable amongst the Japanese ever since the 1950s, when the Emperor met his wife on the tennis courts there.
